Austin Pierce is an amazing child. He can light up a room with his smile and is always eager to make others happy. He loves participating in Special Olympics, where sports are tailored to his abilities. He has gained so much confidence through participating in the program and competing in bowling, bocce, swimming and track and field. Through Special Olympics, Austin has formed friendships with kids who face similar challenges in life, which is truly heartwarming.

Since 2005, Austin has been collecting pledges for Crawford County Special Olympics' annual Bowl-A-Thons to raise money for the program. To date, he has raised over $3,000.00 by asking anyone who would listen if they would sponsor him. It has been quite a feat for him, as he is wheelchair bound and has speech delays, but he is always willing to try. His warm smile encourages people to support the cause.

Austin has been an inspiration to everyone around him, as he continues to shine despite his disabilities. He was the inspiration behind his sister creating her own fundraising project, Calista Cares, to raise money for Crawford County Special Olympics and he enjoys helping her out in any way he can. He loves to help make crafts, but his favorite way to help is by baking for the bake sale.
